Remember these?

They are the remains from the layer cakes that I used to make Cathedral Window Baby Playmats for my niece and my best friend's babies a while back. Like any good hoarder, I couldn't bring myself to throw out the scraps.

I spend a lot of hours awake now, and one day it occurred to me that the corners of each of these scraps could make one half square triangle for quilting.

After some ironing and cutting, I ended up with these little cuties:

That I could match up to make these:

Eek! They are so cute!
After watching my niece Everleigh play with dolls over the Christmas holiday, I decided that I would make her a little dolly quilt for her 2nd birthday. These little half square triangles were just perfect for this project!

30 mix-and-match squares and a complementary border and we had ourselves a little quilt top!

I used a flannel for the backing and decided to keep the quilting simple by using stitch in the ditch to sew the letter "E" into the design (for Everleigh!)

And of course, I had to hand sew on some pom pom trim (because it makes everything cuter!)

And dolly also got a matching pillow and pillow case:

Hadley doesn't have any dolls (yet), so her puppy had to model:

I loved this little project which helped use up some of my "stash" and turned out pretty cute (just like Evie!)
